Tilly and the Buttons Romy top in Candy Rainbow Stripes Jersey
This week we had two very exciting deliveries! A ton of new stripy jersey fabrics in the most amazing colour combinations! We had a lot of fun naming all 11 of them (yes, eleven!) . The other exciting delivery was 2 new Tilly and the buttons patterns! The Romy multi style top and dress AND the Jessa trousers and shorts. Yay!
I planned projects for both patterns straight away so I could take the fabrics home for washing and drying and get on with the sewing the very next day :)
I started with the Romy top. I initially planned on the short sleeve version as it's almost summer but then I realised I could get two long sleeves within the same width of fabric so opted for the long sleeve version.
Our new rainbow stripes fabrics are amazing! super soft, super bright and fun colour combinations but the best feature is that they are extra wide at approx 175cm so that means you can squeeze more pattern pieces with less fabric meterage. For example, if I wanted to make this long sleeved top with another fabric, I would probably need at least another half a meter, so they are great value because of the extra width! bonus!
I found the pattern a breeze to sew so I was done in no time at all!
I think it's supposed to be a loose fitting top so I made the smallest size for me. The only small adjustment i did was narrowing the sleeves a bit as I like to pull my sleeves back and a loose fitting means they wouldn't hold.
Stripe matching perfection!
Can you spot the seam?
Once again, really happy with another super fun top. Check out our other post for the Jessa shorts!
I'll be making the short sleeve Romy top again soon perhaps with the Watermelons print this time!
Happy Sewing!
